The SM silos for animal feeds are used for the storage of small quantities of feeds, meals and granular cereals with maximum apparent density of 0.651 t/m³.
A standard corrugated steel silos to which an unloading hopper is fitted, is assembled on a support structure consisting of uprights and wind-braces.
The self-supporting roof consists of hot-galvanised steel-plate trapezoidal elements fixed on the cylinder; the standard version is supplied with breather on the roof and spring opening system with manual ground control.
The cylinder is made of corrugated S350GD (UNI EN10346) steel sheets with Z450 galvanised covering (equivalent to 450g/m2 of zinc) which ensures long lasting protection against atmospheric agents.
The supporting structure is made of HX420LAD (UNI EN10346) structural steel upright columns with omega section and S275JR (UNI EN10025) structural steel corner sections. The whole structure is then fastened to the ground using either rawl bolts or anchor bolts.
The unloading hopper is made of trapezoidal galvanised steelsheet sections bolted together and is fixed on the supporting structure with spokes that give additional rigidity during the unloading phase.
It has a standard outlet diameter of 440 mm. On request it can be supplied with diameter of 780 mm. In the case of the 2600 model, it is inclined by 67° while for the 3200 and 3700 models, the inclination is 60°.
The assembly of the sheets, of the uprights, of the structure and of the hopper is by means of high mechanical resistance bolts, minimum class strength 8.8 treated with Geomet® covering against corrosion. The infiltration of water between the joints is prevented thanks to the insertion of a specific sealing bead between the sheets.
The thickness of the uprights and of the sheets is determined according to the silo model and to the place of installation (the stresses caused by earthquakes, wind and snow are also considered).
The calculation of the stresses produced by the silage is done according to DIN 1055 standard part 6.
